Cliff fall man died from multiple injuries

An inquest has opened into the death of a man who fell from a cliff path in South Africa.

Tony Staplehurst, 76, died of asphyxia due to multiple injuries, coroner’s officer Peter Daltrey told a hearing this morning.

Mr Staplehurst, of Windmill Close, Willesborough, died at Robberg Nature Reserve near Plettenberg Bay on January 20.

Mr Daltrey told coroner Rachel Redman that the post mortem examination had been held in South Africa and Inquiries by the authorities there were ongoing.

The inquest at Ashford was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
