Clubbers set to invade new nightspot

A level of service that clubbers deserve - that is the pledge from the manager of new Canterbury nightspot Chill which opens this weekend.

The two-floor St George’s Place venue is at the home of the former Churchills and Chicago Rock Cafe.

General manager John Tierney said: “The whole objective for my team is to deliver an unrivalled level of service that Canterbury clubbers deserve.”

Owners Luminar Leisure committed £1million to the rebuild.

Mr Tierney, 40, admits the final cost will be more in the region of £1.5million.

Features include a new ground level dancefloor, VIP booths and bars with back-loading fridges, ensuring drinks remain chilled even during busy evenings.

Mondays will continue to be student-orientated while urban and RnB music fans will be catered for on Thursday nights. Fridays and Saturdays will continue to offer a variety of music similar to those before the refurbishment.

Capacity has been extended to 620 including staff. Smokers will be catered for outside the front until an open air first-floor terrace is completed at the rear.
