HUNDREDS of people enjoyed a weekend of music and good weather at the first Lounge on the Farm festival in.

They danced the time away to live music and to records played by the numerous DJs lined up to entertain the crowds at Merton Farm in Canterbury.

Some 2,000 tickets were sold for the event, being hailed as Canterbury’s answer to the open air music festivals held around the UK during the summer.

The weekend was organised by city DJ collective The Lounge.

Bands playing included The Egg, The View, Vincent Vincent & The Villains, Billy Childish and The Buff Medways and Hatfield And The North.

Nizlopi, the group made famous by their song about a JCB, and Canterbury-based country rock group the Fat River Band were among the top acts to perform on Sunday.

The chief organisers Matt Gough, Sean Baker and Victoria Hazell were delighted with the festival, which has been two years in the planning.

Matt said: "We’ve sold out two days running and I can say there will definitely be another Lounge on the Farm next year."
