Tickets to see Dover Athletic vs Premiership team Crystal Palace at Crabble have sold out

All tickets to Sunday’s FA Cup third round game at Crabble where Dover Athletic plays Crystal Palace have sold out and the ground will be at full capacity.

Tickets first went on sale on Saturday, December 20 where fans were entitled to buy four per person.

But this policy was soon changed to two-per-person after the club experienced a staggeringly high demand for tickets.

Nearly 4,000 people queued around River in a bid to get tickets and many were turned away.

The second opportunity for ticket buyers was on Boxing Day when the Whites beat Welling 2-0. People were able to purchase tickets before the game, from 9am to midday.

Speaking to the Mercury, chairman Jim Parmenter said: “I always learn from these things - we have not experienced anything like it and we did not expect that many people to turn up for tickets.”

Mercury editor Graham Smith, who has supported the club for 26 years, queued for four hours and was successful in buying two tickets.

He said: “I couldn’t feel my toes until 11pm that night.

“I am glad I got there so early because I didn’t want to take any chances, but it is surprising how easily time passed.

“It is the biggest game in the club’s history and the Mercury’s coverage will do it justice.”

The Mercury will be covering the game live, along with many national newspapers and radio stations. The game will be broadcast live on BT Sport from 1pm.

Mr Parmenter has urged fans to arrive early because of parking and because there will be crowds of people entering the ground via the turnstiles.

He said: “The rugby club has been good enough to cancel their mini rugby to allow for parking.”

There will parking in the grounds, in the rugby club and in surrounding streets.
