One hundred walkers with a spring in their step and the sun their back joined the KM Group Dickens walk, led by Geoff Rambler, on Sunday.
With special permission to ramble through the grounds of Cobham Hall, near Gravesend, the KM Group readers enjoyed the sight of swathes of snowdrops in morning sunshine.
Geoff was delighted and surprised to have attracted so many walkers.
He said: "I've never led such a large group but it was great that so many people turned up to make the most of the perfect weather; it was real pleasure to see so many people have such a good time."
Walkers came from across the county to view the 50-acre grounds designed by Sir Humphrey Repton.
Peter Sales, from Maidstone, said: "I used to go for walks around the grounds with my parents in the 1950s so it was a great opportunity to visit again.
"The paths are different now but I could still recognise certain areas."
Jackie Fowle, from Ditton, said: "Last week everything was covered with snow and, as if by magic, today the snowdrops are covering the ground. It makes you feel spring is just round the corner."
Geoff gave the walkers information on Dickens' links to Cobham and explained how the Swiss Chalet, where he wrote his novels, was for a time kept in the Cobham Hall grounds.
Geoff was also joined by Thelma Grove, of the Dickens Fellowship, who gave a reading from The Pickwick Papers.
Donations totalling £236 have been raised through three Dickens-themed KM Group walks to mark the bicentenary of the author's birth. The money will go to the Swiss Chalet repair fund.
KM Group managing editor Lesley Bellew thanked Geoff for leading the walks. She said: "I invited Geoff to lead three walks and he has put in a huge effort by researching routes with links to Dickens. He is now quite an expert!
"Lots of people have been asking if the KM Group will be arranging more walks, so I am hoping Geoff will be able to spare some more of his time. Watch this space."
Geoff is available to design and lead walks for other community groups who wish to raise funds. See his website http://www.geofframbler.co.uk/ for more details.
