Victorian pomp on the promenade as Herne Bay Festival gets under way

There was plenty of pomp and pleasure on the promenade as the Victorian themed Herne Bay Festival got under way with a colourful lantern parade.

Hundreds gathered for the parade from Lane End to the Clock Tower, and were adorned in their finest 19th century attire, as befitting the agreeable occasion.

Organisers are hoping to continue the feel good factor after the success of the Carnival and Air Show in recent weeks.
