Bottle attack on hotel doorman

A 45-year-old hotel doorman was slashed across the face with a beer bottle in a unprovoked attack in the early hours of the morning.

The victim opened the front door of the Granby Hotel, The Hill, Northfleet, to a man standing outside at 2.25am on Tuesday. As he did so, the offender swung a beer bottle at him causing facial cuts.

It was only because the door was kept on a chain that the offender could not continue the attack.

The man police want to trace is described as white, about 5ft 10in, slim build and with short dark hair. He wore a dark bomber jacket and blue jeans. He appeard to speak with a Eastern European accent.

PC James Heath of North Kent Police said: "This was a totally unprovoked attack." Anyone who saw the incident or has information is asked to contact North Kent Police on 01322 283111 or Crimestoppers, free and confidentially, on 0800 555111.
