Fire wrecks ex-fishing boat in Ramsgate harbour

More than 35 firefighters were called to a blazing boat in a Kent harbour last night.

The call to Ramsgate harbour came at 6.45pm after a fire broke out in the engine room of a former fishing boat.

Six pumps from Margate, Thanet, Ramsgate and Deal were sent,along with four specialist appliances including a water safety unit and an inland boat from Sheppey fire station.

There were three members of crew on board, all of whom were accounted for, and the vessel was not carrying any cargo.

Breathing apparatus and foam was used in fighting the fire.
