Object thrown from bridge shatters van window

A VAN driver had a narrow escape from injury when a missile was hurled at his vehicle as he drove under a bridge.

The object shattered the rear window of his vehicle, a Fiat Ducatto, as he travelled along the Old Thanet Way at Greenhill, between Herne Bay and Whitsable.

Police spokesman Michael Ivatt said: "Children are believe to be responsible. The driver noticed a large group of young people standing on a bridge and start to run in the direction of a local school.

"A search of the area was undertaken but police were unable to trace the children or find the object that had been thrown at the van."

Police are appealing for information about the incident which happened at about 5.45pm on Monday, March 6.
