Woman impaled on railings at Canterbury Christ Church University

A student dressed as a smurf impaled herself on railings at Canterbury Christ Church University in the early hours of this morning.

It is believed she slipped while trying to climb over the 6ft high railings at 2.45am in North Holmes Road, Canterbury.

Canterbury firefighters cut the woman free and she was taken to William Harvey hospital in Ashford with part of the railing still through her thigh.
