Addicks defender poised for Boro switch

Luke Young's future has been in doubt since Charlton's relegation

FORMER Charlton captain Luke Young has passed a medical and is expected to complete his £2.5million move to Middlesbrough today.

The 28-year-old England international right-back made more than 200 appearances for the Addicks since joining from Tottenham in July, 2001.

Though he signed a new, improved four-year contract in July last year, his future was always in doubt following Charlton's relegation from the Premiership.

"Luke has been through all the medicals and it's now a case of getting all the forms through from Charlton," said Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate.
