Gills and Fleet games off and others in doubt

Gillingham’s game against Aldershot on Saturday has been postponed.

After a brief inspection of the pitch it was deemed unplayable because of the freezing conditions.

The Gordon Road side of the pitch was too hard and so an early decision has been made.

A new date for the game has yet to be agreed.

Games across the county are under threat.

Ebbsfleet United’s FA Trophy match against Stalybridge Celtic has also been called off after an inspection by referee Steve Bennett.

The match at Stonebridge Road has been rescheduled for Tuesday night.

There was better news at The Valley as Charlton’s pitch was passed fit ahead of the crucial Championship match against Nottingham Forest.

Dover will be holding an 11am pitch inspection ahead of their Ryman League Premier Division game against AFC Hornchurch.

Maidstone’s trip to Harlow is also in doubt and the pitch at Barrow’s Farm is currently covered by snow. An 11am pitch inspection is also due there on Saturday morning.

A decision on the game between Ramsgate and Boreham Wood at the Southwood Stadium will also be made on Saturday and there will be a precautionary inspection at Canvey Island as they prepare to welcome Margate – that is scheduled for 9.30am.

Meanwhile, there will also be pitch inspections on Saturday morning for the matches involving Folkestone, Ashford, Whitstable and Sittingbourne.

There is better news for Welling fans, however, ahead of their FA Trophy trip to Hednesford. The host club have informed the Wings that the game is now likely to go ahead, subject to overnight frost conditions.

Cray Wanderers are due to host Leatherhead on Sunday.
