GILLS had one final outing before the start of the season as they beat Kent League side Thamesmead 3-0.

Tommy Johnson scored the first and Matt Bodkin netted twice as a mixed team strolled to victory at Bayliss Avenue.

The hastily arranged match gave several players, including Nicky Southall and Alan Pouton, an extra fitness boost after picking up knocks recently.

Tommy Johnson stuck in the first after 20 minutes, as he followed up David Perpetuini's blocked shot.

Bodkin then made it two five minutes before the interval as he converted from the spot, having been pulled down.

Perpetuini was involved in the third, as he put Bodkin through, and the young striker side footed his marker before steering the ball past the keeper.

* Team: Knowles, Southall (Corneille 65), Rose, Solomon, Beckwith, Pouton, Perpetuini, Hessenthaler (Carew 82), Crofts, Bodkin, T Johnson (Awuah).
