Anyone in a bad mood about not scoring tickets to the Big Weekend at Maidstone would do well to keep their grievances away from the venue gates.

Kent Police have obtained a dispersal order for the area around Mote Park over the course of the Radio 1’s mammoth music event, allowing officers the right to disperse groups of people who do not have tickets and are committing any form of anti-social behaviour.

Posters have gone up in the area advising residents of the order, which will come into effect on Thursday, May 9 and run until Sunday, May 11.

Superintendent Ian Hall said: “Should officers see anyone from Maidstone who is known for anti-social behaviour and who is not in possession of tickets for the event, then they will be warned that a dispersal order is in place.

“If two or more persons are believed to be have been involved in disorder or anti social behaviour, or there is a likelihood of disorder, then they will be dispersed from the area.”
