Shepherd Neame apply for licence for Pier 5 Bar & Kitchen at Chatham Maritime

Shepherd Neame is planning to open a bar and restaurant with an outside terrace, overlooking Chatham's marina.

Pier 5 Bar & Kitchen is set to open later this year on the far end of the pier at Chatham Maritime - just minutes away from their other premises, the Ship and Trades.

The brewer has submitted an application to Medway Council for a premises licence, with operating hours from 10am until 12.15am, Monday to Sunday.

Alcohol will be served from 10am until midnight, with recorded music from 10am until midnight.

Richard Miles, who lives next door in Marina Point West, has objected to the plan.

He said: "My apartment is on the first floor and is only 20ft away. I consider music after 10pm to be anti-social and I believe that it will have a disastrous impact on my life.

"It is not a suitable environment for music, entertainment and drinking so close to someone’s bedroom and living room."

In order to minimise the level of disturbance to residents, Shepherd Neame have said they will only dispose of glass bottles between 7am and 11pm.

A decision will be made by the licensing panel on Tuesday, March 14.
