Police were called to a broken down vehicle on the Sheppey Crossing. It's thought that a car's tyre had suffered a puncture.
A spokesman for the police said: "At 8.08am we were called to reports of a broken down vehicle on the southbound carriageway.
"The bridge was closed shortly after to aid it's recovery."
