Sittingbourne boss Nick Davis admits his side are stuck in a rut

It’s crunch time, says Sittingbourne boss Nick Davis.

His team have lost their last eight in Ryman League, Division 1 South and face second-bottom Chipstead on Saturday.

Davis admits the team are in a rut and defeat this weekend could mean he calls it a day.

Straight-talking boss Davis said: “We have got to beat Chipstead and if we don’t, then we really need to look at ourselves and maybe someone else needs to come in with some fresh ideas.

“I’m not a quitter but I have put in everything to try and turn things around. We’ve brought in a couple of experienced players but it’s mainly the same players who went on a run of one defeat in 12.

“I’ve told the players how important the game is and I know the club aren’t going to stand by me forever.

“We’ve won 10 games – five in a row earlier in the season – and we’ve done all right in the FA Cup but questions are going to be asked now. It’s a huge game.”

Sittingbourne are one place above the drop zone but five points clear of East Grinstead, who won at South Park on Wednesday evening.
